Islamabad, In a notable achievement for the Pakistan Postal Service, the Senate Standing Committee on Communications learned that the service has exceeded its revenue targets by fourteen percent this year. The Committee, chaired by Senator Prince Ahmed Umer Ahmedzai, convened in Islamabad to discuss various matters pertaining to the postal service and other communications issues.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Director General of Pakistan Post provided an overview of the organization’s recent accomplishments and future plans. This includes the expansion of NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) counters, efficient processing and delivery of CNICs (Computerized National Identity Cards), and the establishment of eighty-five new General Post Offices (GPOs) across the country. Additionally, the appointment of 20 officers to manage these operations was highlighted as a part of the service’s expansion and improvement strategy.
The Committee also deliberated on a public petition requesting the conversion of a project from the B and R Department to the National Highway Authority in Balochistan and Punjab. After a thorough discussion, the decision on this matter was postponed until Thursday.
Furthermore, the Committee addressed the issue of recruitment within the National Highway Authority, noting that the process had been temporarily suspended due to a ban imposed by the Election Commission of Pakistan amid general elections.
The Pakistan Postal Service’s success in generating additional revenue is a testament to its ongoing efforts to modernize and expand its services, meeting the growing needs of the public while enhancing its operational efficiency.
