PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has asserted that the country is committed to eradicating terrorism while maintaining peace with neighboring nations, including Afghanistan. In a recent visit to Peshawar, Munir addressed a gathering of tribal elders, emphasizing Pakistan’s stance against cross-border terrorism emanating from Afghan territory.
Field Marshal Munir underscored that Pakistan has shown restraint despite ongoing cross-border terrorism from Afghanistan. He noted that Pakistan has made several diplomatic and economic efforts to enhance relations with Afghanistan, but expressed concern over the Afghan Taliban regime’s support for Indian-backed terror groups, Fitna Al Khwarij and Fitna Al Hindustan.
During the session, Munir assured the tribal elders that security forces would work to eliminate terrorists and their supporters, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He praised the unwavering support of the tribal communities during recent tensions between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban.
He paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the fight against terrorism, acknowledging their resilience.
The tribal elders voiced their full support for the Pakistani Armed Forces and their opposition to the Afghan Taliban. They commended Munir’s transparent communication and reaffirmed their commitment to peace, disavowing the ideology of Fitna Al Khwarij.
Field Marshal Munir was also briefed on the security situation, operational readiness, and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by the Commander of Peshawar Corps.
