Pakistan Pavilion Debuts at GITEX Global 2024, Marked by Tech Industry Achievements

Abu Dhabi: Pakistan’s burgeoning IT sector received prominent recognition at GITEX Global 2024, with the inauguration of the Pakistan Pavilion today at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Led by H.E. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, the event highlighted Pakistan’s designation as the “Tech Destination of the Year 2024,” underscoring its dynamic growth in IT exports and innovation.

According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Tirmizi was joined by notable figures including Consul General Hussain Muhammad and Trade and Investment Counsellor Ali Zeb Khan, alongside senior government officials. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Tirmizi detailed the significant strides Pakistan has made in the IT sector, noting a 34% increase in IT exports to the UAE, totaling $265 million, with global exports surpassing $3.2 billion.

The success of the pavilion, which showcases 24 exhibitors from Pakistan’s IT industry, is attributed to the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA), and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). Their joint efforts have positioned Pakistan at the forefront of the global IT landscape, presented comprehensively at GITEX Global, the world’s premier IT exhibition.

Ambassador Tirmizi also praised the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, for their roles in advancing Pakistan’s IT agenda. He highlighted Pakistan’s unique market advantages, including its large English-speaking population and status as the second-largest provider of freelance IT services worldwide.

The ambassador’s call to global business leaders and IT professionals to engage with the Pakistan Pavilion reflects an ambitious strategy to foster international collaborations and further expand Pakistan’s IT export capabilities.
