Pakistan Partners with Commonwealth to Enhance Youth Leadership and Climate Initiatives

London: Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan, met with the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC, at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London to discuss strengthening ties and initiatives aimed at youth leadership and climate change mitigation. The meeting also included the High Commissioner of Pakistan to the UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, along with other officials from the Pakistan High Commission.

According to High Commission for Pakistan – United Kingdom, Rana Mashood highlighted Pakistan’s role as a founding member of the Commonwealth and its commitment to the Commonwealth Sustainable Development Agenda. He briefed the Secretary General on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s initiatives, including the “Generation Unlimited” partnership program and the National Youth Council, designed to empower youth by involving them in policymaking processes.

The discussion underscored the potential for collaboration in areas such as education, skills development, women’s empowerment, health, and climate change. The Secretary General praised Pakistan’s position on the global youth employability index and discussed upcoming joint mechanisms for disaster management and relief efforts among Commonwealth countries.

Additionally, the Secretary General invited Pakistan to join the Commonwealth’s AI Consortium to enhance technological education and training in Artificial Intelligence, focusing on equipping Pakistani youth with necessary skills for the future.
