Islamabad, October 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Message Received from Kigali, Rwanda, Pakistani Parliamentary delegation presented the resolution at IPU general Assembly for the establishment of global fund for the rehabilitation of flood victims and combating climate change. The resolution was presented by Senator Farooq H. Naik.
The 145th General Assembly of the IPU is being held in Kigali (Rwanda). Delegations from 178 parliaments around the world are participating in the meeting. Senator Farooq H. Naik briefed the participants about the devastation caused by the recent devastating floods in Pakistan. He also appealed to the participants of the meeting to support the resolution presented by Pakistan.
He also said that if the resolution is approved, it would pave the way for the establishment of a global fund to deal with climate change. The release of funds will help developing countries deal with climate change.
It is pertinent to mention that Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf held meetings with diplomats from IPU geopolitical groups to garner their support. The Speaker apprised the diplomats of the plight of the flood-affected Pakistani people and asked the parliaments of their countries to support the resolution sent by the National Assembly of Pakistan. The Pakistani parliamentary delegation present in Rawanda also met the delegations of the member countries of IPU and appealed for support to resolution presented in the General Assembly session of IPU.
