Muscat: On October 17, 2024, the first-ever Pakistan-Oman Expo and Business Conference concluded in Muscat, marking a significant milestone in economic cooperation between the two nations. The event, which featured a broad array of Pakistani products ranging from textiles to pharmaceuticals, secured millions of dollars in export orders for Pakistani businesses, signifying a robust interest in Pakistani goods within the Omani market.
According to Press Information Department, the expo drew more than a thousand Omani businesspersons and government officials, showcasing 64 Pakistani business houses across 10 categories, including fashion apparel, agricultural products, and pharmaceuticals. Notably, 172 Pakistani business delegates, including female entrepreneurs, participated, highlighting the diversity and capability of Pakistan’s industrial sectors.
The event facilitated crucial B2B and B2C interactions, with business and investment opportunities in Oman presented by Invest Oman and the Oman Public Authority for Economic and Free Zones. Additionally, sessions moderated by leading business lawyers and finance experts discussed enhancing bilateral trade and addressing the challenges of establishing businesses in Oman.
Ambassador Imran Ali highlighted the expo as a significant step toward deepening economic ties between Pakistan and Oman, expressing a commitment to make this an annual event. The expo not only fostered immediate business deals but also set the stage for ongoing engagement, with many Pakistani delegates extending their stay to explore further partnerships.
The success of the event underscores the potential for increased trade and economic collaboration, supporting Oman’s diversification efforts away from oil dependency and aiding Pakistan’s goals to expand its export markets.
