Pakistan Observes National Minorities Day to Affirm Rights and Inclusion

Islamabad: Today, Pakistan marks National Minorities Day, dedicated to recognizing and promoting the religious and socio-economic rights of minority communities across the nation.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the observance of this day aligns with the principles set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, focusing on the protection and enhancement of life for those in religious, linguistic, national, or ethnic minorities. This annual commemoration also echoes the foundational promises made by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan’s founding father, who advocated for equal rights for all citizens, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.

The day is marked by various events and discussions aimed at reinforcing the state’s commitment to upholding the rights and freedoms of minority groups, fostering an environment of inclusivity and respect within the diverse fabric of Pakistani society.
