Pakistan, neighbouring countries of Afghanistan emphasize for inclusive political set up in Kabul

Islamabad, September 10, 2021 (PPI-OT):Pakistan and the five other neighbouring countries of Afghanistan have emphasized the importance of an inclusive political structure in Kabul with the participation of all ethnic groups. The Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, China, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in a virtual meeting agreed that after the withdrawal of foreign troops, the people of Afghanistan now have to determine their own future by “Afghan-led, Afghan-owned” process for national peace and reconciliation.

In a joint statement issued at the conclusion of the Foreign Ministers’ meeting at the initiative of Pakistan, the neighbouring countries recognised that the changes undergone in Afghanistan proved yet again that there was no military solution to this issue.

They also emphasized that the relevant members of the UN Security Council should take responsibility for peace and reconstruction of Afghanistan by supporting in developing its social and economic infrastructure and provide the people of Afghanistan with vital economic and humanitarian assistance.
