Islamabad, Caretaker Privatization Minister Fawad Hassan Fawad announced that all legal formalities have been completed for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). This step marks a significant move towards the privatization of the national carrier.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a conversation with a private news channel, Fawad Hassan Fawad detailed the various stages of the PIA’s privatization process. He emphasized that the Privatization Commission is thoroughly executing the task, with a focus on transparency and due diligence. Representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority, as well as the ministries of education, law, and finance, have been involved in the process to ensure its integrity.
Addressing rumors about the PIA being purchased by a foreign government, Fawad dismissed such claims as baseless and motivated by vested interests. He reassured that the caretaker federal cabinet is committed to protecting the rights of PIA employees, ensuring no one is unjustly deprived of their legitimate rights.
The Minister also highlighted the urgency of implementing reforms to arrest the further deterioration of public institutions, including PIA. Responding to a query about the general elections, Fawad confirmed that they would be held as scheduled on February 8, with the caretaker government fully supporting the Election Commission of Pakistan in conducting the polls.
