Manama: The Pakistan Navy has officially transferred command of the Combined Task Force 150 (CTF 150) to the Royal New Zealand Navy, marking the end of its thirteenth tenure overseeing the maritime security operations of the task force.
According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Commodore Asim Sohail Malik of the Pakistan Navy handed over the command to Commodore Rodger Ward of the Royal New Zealand Navy in a formal ceremony. Vice Admiral George Wikoff, Commander of the Combined Maritime Forces, attended the event as the chief guest.
CTF 150 is one of five task forces operating under the Combined Maritime Forces, a coalition focused on promoting security and stability in international waters. During its leadership period from July 2024 to January 2025, the Pakistan Navy conducted several operations aimed at ensuring maritime security.
The Pakistan Navy, in collaboration with the Combined Maritime Forces, successfully intercepted approximately ten tonnes of narcotics, with a street value exceeding fifty million dollars. This highlights the task force’s ongoing efforts to combat illicit activities at sea.
In his remarks, Commodore Asim Sohail Malik emphasized the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to contributing to maritime security, expressing pride in its active participation within the Combined Maritime Forces.
