Pakistan Navy to Host 9th AMAN Exercise and Inaugural AMAN Dialogue

Islamabad: Pakistan Navy is preparing to host the ninth edition of the AMAN multinational exercise, AMAN-25, from February 7 to 11. This year’s exercise is notable for the introduction of the AMAN Dialogue, an event that will bring together chiefs of naval forces, coast guard leaders, and senior officials worldwide to discuss regional maritime security and strategies against maritime threats.

According to a statement by Pakistan Navy, around 60 countries are expected to participate in AMAN-25, contributing ships, aircraft, Special Operations Forces, Explosives Ordnance Disposal teams, marines, and observers. The inaugural International AMAN Dialogue will coincide with the exercise, drawing delegations globally.

The AMAN series, initiated in 2007 with 28 countries, aims to foster regional peace and cooperation. By 2023, participation had increased to 50 countries, including major naval powers. The series’ motto, “Together for Peace,” underlines its mission, while this year’s theme, “Secure Seas; Prosperous Future,” highlights maritime security’s role in global prosperity.

The exercise will feature both harbour and sea phases. Harbour activities will include seminars, operational discussions, counter-terrorism demonstrations, and planning for sea operations. The sea phase will involve tactical maneuvers, maritime security exercises, search and rescue operations, gunnery firings, and air defense exercises. A key event during the sea phase will be the International Fleet Review, attended by national and foreign dignitaries.
