Pakistan Navy Thwarts Major Narcotics Smuggling Attempt in Arabian Sea


Islamabad, The Pakistan Navy has successfully intercepted and seized a significant quantity of narcotics in the northern Arabian Sea, in an operation that highlights the country’s ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Mr. Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh, has publicly commended the naval forces for their effective action in preventing the smuggling attempt.



According to Press Information Department, the operation involved the naval ship PNS Yarmook, which managed to capture a haul of drugs that is estimated to be worth thousands of dollars on the global market. The exact nature and quantity of the narcotics have not been disclosed, but the seizure is considered substantial.



“The operation of Pakistan Navy officials within Pakistan’s maritime boundaries to foil an attempt to smuggle narcotics should be appreciated,” stated Mr. Shaikh. This operation is part of a broader initiative by Pakistani maritime forces to secure the nation’s waters and disrupt the international narcotics trade, which poses significant legal and public health challenges worldwide.



The successful interception underscores the Pakistan Navy’s role in enhancing maritime security and its capability to conduct complex operations aimed at combating illicit activities at sea.
