Islamabad: Pakistan Navy Ship ZULFIQUAR has successfully rescued an Iranian fishing dhow named AL MUHAMMADI, which was stranded in the Gulf of Aden with 23 fishermen on board. The vessel was located over 1,200 nautical miles from its home port, requiring immediate assistance.
According to Pakistan Navy, the PNS ZULFIQUAR promptly responded to a distress call from the fishing dhow. Communication with the crew revealed a seriously injured crew member and a defective engine. The Pakistan Navy dispatched medical and technical teams to the scene. The injured fisherman, who had severely injured his hand while repairing the boat’s engine, received first aid. Two additional sick crew members were also examined and provided with medical assistance. The technical team successfully repaired the dhow’s engine.
The operation aligns with Pakistan’s national objective of ensuring peace and stability in the region. The Pakistan Navy regularly deploys its assets on Regional Maritime Security Patrols, providing assistance to vessels at sea.
