Karachi: The Pakistan Navy’s Annual Safety Review for the year 2023 was conducted at Bahria Auditorium in Karachi, with Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, presiding as the chief guest. This important event underscores the Navy’s commitment to safety and operational readiness amid evolving regional dynamics.
According to Pakistan Navy announcement issued on 09 July 2024, the review is a key annual event aimed at reinforcing safety awareness, fostering a robust safety culture, and promoting a secure working environment across all naval operations. Admiral Ashraf, in his address, emphasized the Navy’s vigilance regarding regional developments and its continuous readiness to manage any potential threats in its maritime area of responsibility. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to enhance the Navy’s regional presence and its interactions with international waters and regional partners to improve integration and interoperability.
The Chief of the Naval Staff also lauded the high standards of safety upheld by all field commands and recognized the efforts of panels that conducted thorough analyses and offered valuable safety recommendations. As part of the ceremony, Admiral Ashraf distributed Safety Trophies and awards to various units and individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing the Navy’s safety protocols.
This event followed the PN Annual Safety Seminar held on July 8, 2024, where Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, was the chief guest. The seminar featured presentations on various safety aspects and the latest trends to enhance the safety culture within the Pakistan Navy, attended by a wide array of officers, CPOs/sailors, and Navy civilians.
