Pakistan Navy and PMSA Launch Joint SAR Operation for Missing Fishermen

Karachi, The Pakistan Navy, in collaboration with the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), has embarked on an urgent search and rescue operation following the distressing news of a fishing boat capsizing near Hajambro creek.

According to Pakistan Navy, the joint operation was launched in response to the capsizing of the Al-Assad fishing vessel, which had 45 crew members aboard when it encountered adverse weather conditions on 5 March. The concerted efforts to locate and rescue the missing fishermen involved deploying Pakistan Navy aircraft, helicopters, and PMSA ships and boats, highlighting the agencies’ commitment to maritime safety and rapid response in emergencies.

The operation, coordinated through the Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Centre (JMICC), the Maritime Headquarters (MHQ), and the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, signifies the collaborative spirit and operational synergy between the Pakistan Navy and PMSA. These efforts are ongoing, with both naval and maritime security assets fully engaged in the search while liaising with local authorities and other relevant entities to ensure a comprehensive search effort.

The rescue mission underscores the critical role of Pakistan’s maritime agencies in safeguarding lives at sea, reflecting their readiness to respond to maritime incidents and coordinate effectively in high-stakes situations.
