Pakistan Navy Adds State-of-the-Art Offshore Patrol Vessel PNS YAMAMA

Islamabad, In a significant enhancement of its maritime security capabilities, the Pakistan Navy celebrated the launching ceremony of its fourth Offshore Patrol Vessel, PNS YAMAMA, at the Damen Shipyard Galati in Romania. This event marks a crucial step in bolstering Pakistan’s naval presence in the Indian Ocean Region, particularly amid growing conventional and non-conventional maritime threats.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff and the chief guest at the ceremony, emphasized the critical role of maritime security in protecting energy and trade routes that traverse the Indian Ocean Region. He noted the Pakistan Navy’s substantial efforts in maintaining a safe and secure maritime environment essential for international trade.

Vice Admiral Bilgrami expressed confidence that the induction of the PNS YAMAMA, a multipurpose and highly adaptive platform equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and sensors, will significantly enhance the combat capability of the Pakistan Navy Fleet. The vessel is poised to play a vital role in safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime frontiers and ensuring maritime security, especially in the Arabian Sea, contributing to regional stability and security.

The addition of the PNS YAMAMA to the Pakistan Navy’s fleet underscores the nation’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in a strategically important maritime area.
