Pakistan Moves to Modernize Arbitration Laws to Boost Investor Confidence


Islamabad, The Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan hosted a consultative workshop titled “Rethinking and Reshaping Arbitration Law in Pakistan” at the Federal Judicial Academy to address and reform the nation’s arbitration laws. This initiative is aimed at aligning Pakistan’s legal framework with international standards to better resolve commercial disputes and attract foreign investment.



According to Press Information Department, the workshop brought together prominent legal minds, including Hon’ble Mr. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah of the Supreme Court, who chairs the Arbitration Law Review Committee (ALRC). The committee reviewed the existing Arbitration Act of 1940, proposing a new bill that adheres to the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration. This reform is seen as crucial in making Pakistan a more arbitration-friendly jurisdiction.
