Pakistan mission to the United Nations New York

Islamabad, July 29, 2021 (PPI-OT): The Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan convened meeting of the GoF of Neutrality for Peace, Security and Development today, where Ambassador Aamir Khan, Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan Mission to the UN delivered his statement, says a press release received here today from New York. Ambassador Aamir Khan said that “Pakistan believes that closer multilateral cooperation is essential in order to realize the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, strengthen international peace and security and ensuring economic, environmental, social and human development”.

He also expressed Pakistan’s support for the “constructive foreign policy of Turkmenistan based on positive neutrality and also note the experience of Turkmenistan as an effective partner of the United Nations in preserving and maintaining political stability at the regional and global level”. On December 12, 1995, the United Nations General Assembly also unanimously adopted the Resolution on “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan.” Ambassador Aamir Khan said that it “was a wise and far-sighted decision by Turkmenistan.”

“We understand that by initiating the idea of this GoF, Turkmenistan aims to achieve regional safety, stability and common prosperity in line with its longstanding policy on neutrality”, he said further Aamir khan further insisted that “Pakistan fully adheres to multilateralism and supports global strategic stability and regional prosperity”. And in line with this vision, “we support this initiative and hope that it would play an effective role in preventing foreign intervention, help resolve conflicts and restrict use or threat of using force for the transformation of conflict prone processes into the peaceful and negotiable direction”.
