Islamabad: Ahsan Iqbal, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, has criticized India’s handling of security incidents, contrasting it with Pakistan’s approach. He pointed out that despite India’s larger size and extensive history of statehood, it experiences an “insecurity syndrome” compared to Pakistan’s composure.
Iqbal referenced the Jafarabad Express terrorist attack, highlighting Pakistan’s responsible response, which involved acknowledging internal security lapses and committing to improvements. In contrast, he noted India’s reaction to the Pahalgam tragedy as impulsive, accusing Pakistan without evidence.
Since 1993, according to Iqbal, no political leader in Pakistan has exploited anti-India sentiment for electoral gain. He contrasted this with India, where anti-Pakistan sentiments are reportedly common in pre-election campaigns.
Iqbal criticized the Indian government and media’s conduct as irresponsible, underscoring what he termed a striking irony.
