Islamabad: Pakistan’s military has urged India to reconcile with Pakistan’s regional significance and to learn to coexist peacefully, following remarks from India’s Chief of Army Staff. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani military’s media wing, issued a statement highlighting concerns over what it described as India’s aggressive posturing and rhetoric, which it claims has repeatedly brought South Asia to the brink of conflict.

According to Radio Pakistan, the ISPR’s statement was a response to recent comments from the Indian Chief of Army Staff, which it characterized as reflecting an inability of the Indian leadership to come to terms with Pakistan’s existence even after eight decades. The ISPR criticized India’s approach as hubristic and jingoistic, arguing that such attitudes have historically escalated tensions in the region.

The statement emphasized that threatening a nuclear-armed neighbor with territorial elimination is not a strategic move but rather an act of recklessness. The ISPR further noted that responsible nuclear states demonstrate maturity and restraint, avoiding language that implies civilizational supremacy or the erasure of nations.

The ISPR’s statement also addressed what it described as India’s historical role in regional instability, accusing it of being a state sponsor of terrorism and a source of disinformation. It urged Indian leadership to avoid actions that could lead South Asia into another crisis with potentially devastating consequences.

In its concluding remarks, the ISPR reiterated the need for India to acknowledge Pakistan’s established role on the global stage and to work towards peaceful coexistence, warning that any hostile actions could have far-reaching and undesirable outcomes for both nations.
