Islamabad: Pakistan joins the global community in observing World Standards Day, emphasizing the crucial role of standardization in enhancing the quality of domestic manufacturing and broadening the country’s presence in the international market. This year, the theme announced by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), “Shared Vision for a Better World,” highlights the importance of reliability and trust in both manufacturing and service sectors.
According to Press Information Department, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his message for the occasion, pointed out several key initiatives by the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA). These include the development of rigorous safety standards for automotive vehicles and setting a cap on industrially produced Trans Fatty Acids in food products at 2%, aimed at reducing cardiovascular diseases in Pakistan. Such measures reflect the government’s dedication to public health, safety, and environmental conservation.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the growth of Pakistan’s exports heavily relies on compliance with international standards, which fosters global consumer confidence in Pakistani products, opening up greater opportunities for the country’s businesses. This compliance is seen as essential for obtaining a competitive advantage, enabling businesses to meet customer needs through optimized processes.
He expressed confidence that the World Standards Day celebrations will significantly enhance awareness about the importance of standardization, which is vital in a competitive global market. This awareness supports government, industry, and business sectors in ensuring consumer satisfaction worldwide. Prime Minister Sharif reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s alignment with the highest global standards to accelerate sustainable economic development.
