Islamabad: Pakistan is observing its 77th Independence Day today, marked by nationwide ceremonies and patriotic fervor. The celebrations are a tribute to the nation’s history and its aspirations for unity and progress.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the festivities began early with special prayers after the Fajr prayers, and continued with ceremonial gun salutes—31 in Islamabad and 21 in each provincial capital. Key ceremonies included the changing of the guards at the mausoleums of national heroes Allama Iqbal and Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi. The day is also being illuminated by elaborate displays of lights and fireworks across the country, with national flags prominently displayed.

The highlight of the day’s events is the Independence Parade at the Pakistan Military Academy Kakul, featuring a procession of cadets and a ceremonial flag unfurling at midnight, accompanied by the national anthem and patriotic slogans. These events underscore the collective spirit and dedication of the Pakistani people to uphold the values laid down by their founders.
