Pakistan Marks 146th Birth Anniversary of Visionary Poet Allama Iqbal

Sialkot, Pakistan celebrates the 146th birth anniversary of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, renowned as the “Poet of the East,” with profound national enthusiasm. The philosopher-poet, whose ideas were pivotal in the formation of Pakistan, was born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting reports that the day is being observed to honor Iqbal, who played a critical role in inspiring the Muslims of the Subcontinent with his poetry and political insights. His historic address in Allahabad in 1930 laid the ideological groundwork for Pakistan’s creation, providing a distinct identity and direction for the Muslims of the time.

In commemoration, Radio Pakistan and television channels are broadcasting special programs to illuminate the poetry and philosophies of Allama Iqbal, underscoring his enduring legacy and impact on contemporary thought and nationalism.
