Islamabad, December 09, 2021 (PPI-OT):Pakistan and Maldives have agreed to revitalize and enhance cooperation in education sector with special focus on teachers and faculty exchanges. The understanding came at a meeting between Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood and his Maldivian counterpart Dr Aishath Ali and Maldivian State Minister for Education Athiya Naseer on the sidelines of a conference in Cairo, Egypt.
Both the sides shared experiences of education sector’s response in times of pandemic and importance of capitalizing on distance learning education. Meanwhile, Pakistan and Egypt have also agreed to work out and share best practices on faculty development for improving quality of education.
The understanding was reached at a meeting between Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood and Egyptian Higher Education Minister Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar on the sidelines of 14th General Conference of Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and 2nd Edition of Global Forum on Higher Education in Cairo, Egypt. The two sides decided to review bilateral cooperation in Higher Education and Research with further enhancement of students and faculty exchanges as well as establishing a scholarly Pakistan Chair at Al-Azhar University, Cairo.
