Pakistan Leadership Reaffirms Support for Kashmiri Self-Determination on Syed Ali Gilani’s Third Martyrdom Anniversary

Islamabad: On the third anniversary of the martyrdom of Syed Ali Gilani, a prominent Kashmiri leader, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have both reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. This comes as a continuation of Pakistan’s long-standing policy to back the Kashmiri struggle as outlined in United Nations Security Council resolutions.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Zardari praised Syed Ali Gilani as a symbol of hope and resistance, whose efforts have continuously inspired Kashmiris in their fight for self-determination. The President emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to advocating internationally for the rights of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed his admiration for Gilani’s unwavering dedication to the Kashmiri independence movement. He highlighted Gilani’s significant role and his unyielding resolve to achieve freedom for the Kashmiri people, despite facing severe adversities such as imprisonment. The Prime Minister assured that Pakistan would persist in its moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmir cause.

Both leaders affirmed that Gilani’s sacrifices and leadership in advocating for Kashmiri independence and self-determination will always be honored and remembered, underscoring their commitment to continue supporting the Kashmiri people in their quest for justice and autonomy.
