Islamabad: Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication announced the launch of National Roaming Services, a significant step toward enhancing mobile connectivity nationwide, especially in underserved regions.
According to Universal Service Funds, Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima, highlighted the collaborative effort behind the initiative and stressed the importance of extending these services to areas lacking adequate mobile network coverage. National roaming will allow users to switch networks seamlessly on a single SIM card, ensuring consistent service availability.
The Universal Service Fund has been instrumental in deploying infrastructure to support national roaming, with over 2,000 kilometers of highways and motorways now covered. This expansion is not only aimed at bridging the digital divide but also enhancing road safety, facilitating access to emergency services, and boosting tourism.
This initiative represents a commitment to not only improve mobile service reliability across Pakistan but also to foster a more connected, digitally inclusive society.
