Islamabad: In conjunction with World Mental Health Day, Pakistan has introduced the National Mental Health Helpline 1166, an initiative aimed at bolstering mental health support across the nation. This year’s global observance, under the theme “Mental Health at Work,” focuses on the crucial link between mental well-being and workplace environments.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Asif Ali Zardari marked the occasion by highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing mental health resources. He emphasized that the new helpline is a step towards ensuring accessible support for mental health issues within the country.
In his World Mental Health Day message, President Zardari expressed pride in Pakistan’s efforts to develop a cost-effective package for essential health services, which includes mental health interventions at the primary healthcare and community levels. He also encouraged citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles and engage in regular physical activity as effective ways to manage stress and anxiety.
