Pakistan Intensifies Relief Efforts for Gaza and Lebanon, Ensures Timely Aid Delivery

Islamabad: Pakistan has reiterated its dedication to the timely and effective delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and Lebanon, as confirmed during a high-level meeting at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting, co-chaired by Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal and NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, focused on reviewing and enhancing Pakistan’s relief operations for the people affected by conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon. The discussions aimed to address and resolve any logistical issues hindering aid delivery.

To date, Pakistan has sent 12 consignments totaling 1,251 tons of essential relief supplies, with ten shipments directed to Gaza and two to Lebanon. These have included tents, tarpaulins, food packs, winter bedding, medicines, and hygiene kits.

The Ambassador of Lebanon to Pakistan commended the timely assistance provided by Pakistan, noting that the country ranks among the first three nations to support Lebanon during its current crisis. He highlighted Pakistan’s active efforts to dispatch further aid.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal conveyed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has personally issued directives to ensure continued support to Lebanon and Gaza. He discussed the establishment of the “Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Gaza and Lebanon,” designed to facilitate contributions from Pakistani citizens to support their brethren in these regions.

The minister urged the NDMA to develop an efficient model for delivering aid via air and land routes and stressed the importance of maintaining a steady supply chain of essential items in collaboration with food and non-food item suppliers.

Additionally, Pakistan’s Ambassadors to Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria provided updates on the welfare institutions and the current methods employed for distributing aid in the war-stricken areas.
