Pakistan Intensifies Border Security Operations Amid Surge in Cross-Border Terrorism

Islamabad, Pakistan’s security forces have intensified operations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in response to a recent surge in terrorist incidents initiated from Afghan soil. The military has been actively engaging hostile elements attempting to infiltrate and target both military personnel and civilians within Pakistan.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, the operations in the Sambaza area of Zhob District in Balochistan have been particularly effective, with 29 terrorists neutralized in the past month alone. These efforts were part of a broader series of engagements that began on April 21, 2024. Tragically, during these operations, Major Babar Khan was killed in action on May 14, 2024, underscoring the risks faced by Pakistan’s military personnel in combating terrorism.

The ISPR emphasized Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to securing its borders and ensuring the safety of its citizens. The Pakistani government has also been vocal in urging the Interim Afghan Government to enhance border management and prevent the use of Afghan territory by terrorists targeting Pakistan. The expectation set forth by Pakistan is for the Afghan government to meet its obligations and actively deny terrorists the ability to use Afghan soil for launching attacks against Pakistan.
