ISLAMABAD: Hosting the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women is a distinct honor for Pakistan, Federal Minister for Law & Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar announced at a news conference. The two-day event is set to serve as a platform for discussing women’s empowerment and building an inclusive society.

According to Radio Pakistan, the conference is held under the theme “Socio-Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in the OIC Countries: Challenges and Way Forward.” Notable attendees include Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja, alongside a large delegation of women. The conference will culminate with the adoption of the “Islamabad Declaration.”

Tarar emphasized Pakistan’s pride in chairing the conference for the next two years and affirmed the country’s readiness to meet its obligations. With representatives from 57 OIC member countries in attendance, various technical working groups are actively participating in discussions. The conference’s technical sessions are ongoing today, with the central ministerial meeting scheduled for tomorrow. The government remains committed to advancing the protection of women’s rights.
