Islamabad: Pakistan has paid tribute to the contributions and sacrifices made by United Nations peacekeepers, known as “Blue Helmets,” on the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.

According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan’s association with UN peacekeeping spans over six decades, showcasing its commitment to global peace. Since 1960, more than 237,000 Pakistani peacekeepers have participated in UN missions worldwide, and 183 have lost their lives in the line of duty. Pakistani peacekeepers are currently deployed in high-risk areas such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and the Central African Republic, where they are involved in various operations, including military and climate-related challenges.

The ISPR, Pakistan’s military public relations body, reaffirmed the country’s commitment to UN peacekeeping efforts, emphasizing investment in peace through human resources, advanced training facilities, and capacity building. Pakistan remains committed to partnering with the UN and the global community to ensure that peace is continuously maintained and not taken for granted. The ISPR reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to support international stability, security, and humanitarian efforts under the UN flag.
