London: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr Mohammad Faisal, has criticized India for not fulfilling its commitment to a referendum in Jammu and Kashmir, as outlined by United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
In an interview with a British television channel, reported by Kashmir Media Service, Dr Faisal emphasized the urgent need for resolving the longstanding issue of Jammu and Kashmir. He suggested that the solution requires acknowledging the disputed nature of the region and adhering to bilateral agreements and UN resolutions.
Dr Faisal underscored that the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) remains the primary concern between India and Pakistan. He dismissed Indian claims related to the Pahalgam incident, calling them unfounded and lacking evidence.
He reiterated Pakistan’s offer for an independent international investigation into the Pahalgam incident, emphasizing accountability for those involved. Dr Faisal stated, “Pakistan is willing to participate in such an investigation to uncover the truth. We condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
Highlighting Pakistan’s own experiences with terrorism, Dr Faisal noted the presence of over 900,000 Indian troops in IIOJK. He described India as belligerent in its stance toward Pakistan but stressed Pakistan’s desire for peaceful coexistence and dialogue-driven resolutions with its neighbor.
However, Dr Faisal cautioned that Pakistan is prepared to respond if India engages in any aggressive actions.
