Pakistan High Commission in London Marks 77th Independence Day with Vibrant Celebrations


London: The Pakistan High Commission in London commemorated Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day with a ceremony full of traditional fervor, led by High Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Faisal.



According to Press Information Department, the event featured the hoisting of the Pakistan flag accompanied by the national anthem and began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Key messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister were also read out. In his speech, High Commissioner Dr. Faisal honored the memory of Pakistan’s founding fathers and the ongoing contributions of the Pakistani diaspora in the UK, highlighting their role in fostering closer ties between the two nations.



The ceremony also recognized individuals for their contributions to business, philanthropy, medicine, and public service, with civil awards conferred upon notable members of the community. Special tributes were paid to Abdullah, a young Pakistani in London who prevented a potential stabbing attack, and to Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist in javelin.



The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, attended by UK parliamentarians, diplomats, community members, media, and officials of the Pakistan High Commission and their families, reinforcing the shared commitment to Pakistan’s prosperous future.
