Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka observes ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’

Dhaka, February 05, 2023 (PPI-OT):High Commission for Pakistan to Bangladesh today organized an online event to observe “Kashmir Solidarity Day.” Members of Pakistani diaspora, academics, and local journalists attended the event. Kashmiris and Pakistanis around the world commemorate Kashmir Solidarity Day every year on February 5 to express support for the just struggle of the people of IIOJK.

At the outset of the meeting three video documentaries were screened highlighting the human rights violations in IIOJK; the life, struggle and vision of veteran Hurriyat leader (Late) Syed Ali Geelani in the Kashmir freedom movement and the efforts of Pakistan to raise Kashmir issue at all international forums especially United Nations.

Messages of the President, Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs were also read out on the occasion. In their messages, President of Pakistan Mr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tributes to the brave Kashmiri people for their resolute struggle against India’s illegal occupation and atrocities and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unflinching support to them.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in his message, expressed solidarity with the people of IIOJK and reiterated Pakistan’s abiding commitment to the Kashmir cause until the resolution of the dispute, in line with the United Nations Security Council resolutions and as per the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Highlighting the legal and historical perspective of the Kashmir dispute, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Convener of All Parties Hurriyat Conference said that the Indian government, in violation of international law and UN resolutions, annexed Jammu and Kashmir with military might but Kashmiris will continue their struggle for right of self-determination despite Indian repression.

High Commissioner for Pakistan to Bangladesh Mr. Imran Ahmed Siddiqui reiterated the statements of the Pakistani leadership and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of IIOJK. Highlighting official standpoint of Pakistan on the issue, Mr. Siddiqui said that Pakistan will continue to raise its voice for the people of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir at all international forums.
