Pakistan Government Implements Measures to Provide Relief to Electricity Consumers


Islamabad: Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, announced that the government is implementing several initiatives to ease the burden on electricity consumers across the country. Speaking to media in Islamabad, he detailed the financial efforts being made to subsidize electricity costs for both households and industries.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the government has redirected fifty billion rupees from the development budget to subsidize electricity for consumers using up to 200 units per month. Additionally, a subsidy of ten rupees per unit is being offered to industrial consumers to support business operations and cost management.



The Minister also addressed the ongoing debate about Independent Power Producers (IPPs), noting that there is a strategic shift underway to move power plants from natural gas and other expensive energy sources to coal, aiming to reduce energy production costs and further provide relief to the public.
