Islamabad, In an effort to intensify the crackdown on smuggling, Minister for Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, chaired a significant meeting focused on advancing legal reforms. The meeting addressed the urgent need to strengthen legal frameworks and enforcement mechanisms to effectively combat smuggling activities that threaten national interests.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Law Minister emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to enhancing legal structures and the rule of law as essential tools in the fight against smuggling. He instructed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to compile and present records of pending smuggling cases and their financial impacts. This data is expected to guide targeted actions in future meetings.
Additionally, Minister Tarar ordered the immediate establishment of a custom court in Multan, aiming to boost local enforcement capabilities and expedite the handling of smuggling-related cases. This move is part of a broader strategy to fortify the legal and institutional frameworks across the country to better safeguard economic and security interests.
