Pakistan-Germany Development Talks Secure €114 Million for Climate and Economic Initiatives


Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan and the Federal Republic of Germany have finalized a €114 million development package, focusing on climate, economic growth, and social initiatives. The agreement was reached during the 2025 Pakistan-Germany Bilateral Negotiations on Development Cooperation held in Islamabad.



The discussions were co-chaired by Muhammad Humair Karim, Secretary of Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Christine Toetzke, Director-General of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. German Ambassador Ina Lepel and Pakistani Ambassador Saqlain Syeda also participated, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the two nations.



This new financial commitment from Germany is intended to support efforts in renewable energy, employment, and social protection in Pakistan for the 2025-26 period. Mr. Karim expressed appreciation for Germany’s ongoing support, particularly in advancing renewable energy and employment initiatives under Pakistan’s Economic Transformation Plan “URAAN Pakistan.”



Ms. Toetzke noted Pakistan’s reform efforts and assured continued German support in tackling climate change and economic transformation. Ambassador Lepel emphasized the enduring partnership between the countries and Germany’s commitment to sustainable growth and good governance in Pakistan.



The negotiations concluded with the signing of the Summary Record by Mr. Karim and Ms. Toetzke, marking the new commitments and reaffirming the intention to strengthen bilateral ties. The next round of negotiations is scheduled to take place in Berlin in 2027.
