Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly dismissed India’s assertions that the Jammu and Kashmir issue can be resolved unilaterally, emphasizing that such claims ignore the established international status of the dispute and the necessary involvement of the Kashmiri people in any resolution process.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded to recent statements by India’s Minister for External Affairs concerning Jammu and Kashmir. Baloch criticized the claims as “misleading” and “dangerously delusional,” pointing out that they fail to recognize the on-ground realities in the region.
Baloch reiterated that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is internationally recognized and its resolution is critical for peace and stability in South Asia. She highlighted that any resolution must adhere to the United Nations Security Council’s resolutions and consider the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The spokesperson further stated that India’s unilateral actions in what Pakistan terms as Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir will not alter the fundamental nature of the dispute. She affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to resolving issues through diplomacy and dialogue but warned of a firm response to any aggressive actions.
Baloch urged India to abandon its provocative rhetoric and unfounded claims regarding the region and to engage in meaningful dialogue aimed at achieving a just, peaceful, and lasting resolution in accordance with UNSC resolutions and the rights of the Kashmiri people. She stressed that true peace and stability in South Asia hinge on a fair settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
