Islamabad, In a strong message of resolve and regional cooperation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared Pakistan’s firm stance against tolerating any form of terrorism originating from across its borders. The statement was made during a federal cabinet meeting, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to its territorial integrity and the desire for peaceful, productive relations with neighboring countries.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Prime Minister Sharif underscored the critical importance of safeguarding Pakistan’s geographic frontiers, labeling them a “redline.” While expressing a keen interest in fostering trade and economic ties with neighboring states, he firmly rejected any misuse of neighboring territories for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
The Prime Minister proposed a collaborative regional approach to counter terrorism, emphasizing that united efforts are vital for establishing peace and combating poverty in the region. He expressed hope for a constructive response from neighboring countries to join hands in this crucial fight against terrorism.
Reflecting on Pakistan’s extensive sacrifices in the battle against terrorism, Sharif reiterated the nation’s determination to eradicate this menace, acknowledging the significant contributions and sacrifices of its security forces and their families.
Addressing economic challenges, the Prime Minister acknowledged the necessity of engaging with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for support while reaffirming his government’s dedication to achieving economic self-reliance. He outlined strategic measures to boost investment and foster growth across key sectors, mentioning the Special Investment Facilitation Council’s role in this endeavor.
Sharif also highlighted the need for expeditious resolution of pending tax cases and the modernization of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) through digitalization to enhance efficiency and transparency. Additionally, he announced the formation of a committee aimed at reducing government expenditures, emphasizing strict measures against utility theft.
The Prime Minister called for a united front among federal and provincial entities to navigate the country through its challenges, expressing confidence in the cabinet’s ability to fulfill public expectations and responsibilities.
