Islamabad: Pakistan is making final arrangements for the upcoming Youm-e-Istehsal, an annual event held to denounce India’s revocation of the special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019. A high-level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Kashmir Affairs, Shabbir Ahmed Usmani, convened key government and provincial representatives to ensure readiness for the observance.
According to Kashmir Media Service announcement issued on 19 July 2024, the meeting brought together officials from various sectors including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Islamabad Police, and others. Participants included Syed Khalid Gardezi, Additional Secretary for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs, and Altaf Hussain Wani, a senior leader from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference. They discussed detailed plans for the day, focusing on logistical preparations and the role of different ministries and departments.
Coordinator Shabbir Ahmed Usmani underscored Pakistan’s firm commitment to supporting the Kashmiri cause, stating the intention to highlight Indian atrocities at every international platform until Kashmiris attain their right to self-determination. The meeting underscored a unified approach by Pakistani officials and departments to effectively mark Youm-e-Istehsal and advocate for Kashmiri rights.
