Islamabad: UN Secretary General António Guterres has emphasized that Pakistan is on the frontlines of climate-related challenges, despite being a minor contributor to global carbon emissions. He highlighted that the 2022 floods in Pakistan serve as a reminder of the inequities faced by countries with minimal emissions.
According to Radio Pakistan, Guterres made these remarks in a post on the social media platform X, where he reiterated the urgency for G-20 countries to adhere to their commitments and take immediate action to reduce emissions. The statement underscores the disproportionate impact of climate change on countries like Pakistan, which bear significant consequences from environmental phenomena yet have a limited role in their causes.
