Pakistan Eyes Closer Ties with Poland as Leaders Meet


Islamabad: In a meeting today, President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan and Deputy Prime Minister of Poland Radoslaw Sikorski discussed enhancing political and economic relations between their countries. The discussions took place at Aiwan-e-Sadr, with both leaders expressing a desire to deepen cooperation in various sectors.



President Zardari emphasized the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Poland, highlighting mutual respect and cooperation as its foundation. He outlined opportunities to expand trade and investment, particularly in renewable energy, information technology, agriculture, and mining. The President encouraged Polish businesses to explore partnerships and investments in Pakistan’s special economic zones.



The meeting, attended by Polish Ambassador Maciej Pisarski and Undersecretary Maciej Duszczyk, also focused on regional peace and stability. President Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s role in promoting connectivity and economic integration in South and Central Asia.



Discussions included enhancing cooperation in education, defense, and cultural exchanges. President Zardari acknowledged Poland’s support for Pakistan in the European Union and stressed the importance of collaboration on global and regional issues.



Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski expressed Poland’s interest in strengthening bilateral trade and partnerships across various sectors. The meeting was also attended by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Senator Sherry Rehman, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, and other officials.
