Islamabad, Pakistan has expressed its strong support for the Extraordinary Islamic Summit to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia tomorrow. The Summit, convened by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), is a response to the escalating Israeli attacks on Gaza, which have led to a significant humanitarian crisis.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, in her weekly media briefing in Islamabad, stated that Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar will represent Pakistan at the OIC Summit. Baloch emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to fostering international consensus and mobilizing efforts to promptly end the Israeli aggression against Palestinians and provide urgent relief to the people of Gaza.
The Spokesperson highlighted the urgency for the UN Security Council to act in maintaining peace and calling for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire, lifting the siege in Gaza, and facilitating rapid humanitarian aid. She also urged the supporters of Israel to influence it to stop its settler colonialism, forced displacement, and ethnic cleansing policies against the Palestinians.
Regarding Israel’s responsibilities as an occupying power, Baloch stressed the need for compliance with the Fourth Geneva Convention and immediate cessation of violence in Gaza. Additionally, she reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions.
Responding to queries about the repatriation and settlement of individuals in third countries, the Spokesperson mentioned ongoing discussions with countries, including the United States, to expedite the settlement process. She also clarified Pakistan’s policy on the repatriation of individuals violating Pakistan’s immigration laws, emphasizing adherence to international practice and the implementation of national laws.
