Pakistan Explores New Energy Partnerships with Chinese Companies at Silk Route Expo


Xi An: Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik held a series of round table meetings with Chinese energy companies at the Pakistan pavilion during the 8th Silk Route Expo in Xi An, China. The discussions aimed at fostering joint ventures and collaborations between leading petroleum companies from both nations in key sectors such as oil and gas exploration, refinery upgrades, coal conversion, and the production of hydrogen.



According to Press Information Department, Pakistani companies including the Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL), and the Thar Coal Energy Board participated in the expo. Dr. Malik, outlining the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to creating value from its coal reserves and fostering environmentally sustainable projects. He assured Chinese companies of full facilitation in their partnerships with Pakistani counterparts. Major Chinese firms, including Yanchang Petroleum Group and Shaanxi Gas Group, engaged in business-to-business discussions with Pakistani corporations, exploring opportunities for future collaboration.
