Dense fog and smog are also expected to persist in the plains of Punjab, impacting visibility and daily activities.
According to National Weather Forecasting Centre – Islamabad, the current weather pattern is influenced by continental air covering most parts of the country. Thursday’s forecast anticipates mainly cold and dry conditions nationwide, while the northern regions and northern Balochistan are expected to experience very cold weather. Dense fog and smog are likely to continue in the plains of Punjab, posing challenges in these areas.
The weather on Friday is expected to follow a similar pattern, with cold and dry conditions prevailing in most regions. The intense cold will persist in the north and northern Balochistan. Additionally, fog and smog may affect the plains of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh during the night and morning hours. Frost is also forecasted to occur in a few places in the Pothohar region and Kashmir during the morning.
Over the past 24 hours, the country has experienced cold and dry weather, particularly in the northern areas. The lowest minimum temperatures recorded today include -09°C in Skardu and Leh, -05°C in Kalam and Gilgit, and -04°C in Kalat, Hunza, and Gupis. Astore, Ziarat, and Srinagar recorded a minimum of -03°C.
This weather forecast is critical for residents and authorities to plan accordingly, especially considering the dense fog and smog in certain regions, which can significantly affect travel and outdoor activities.
