Pakistan Endorses OIC’s Statement on Palestine; Sends Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Islamabad, In response to the joint communique from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) following their special open-ended Executive Committee meeting on Palestine in Jeddah, Pakistan expressed its endorsement. Addressing a media briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch indicated that the OIC’s stance, which seeks immediate cessation of hostilities and the initiation of humanitarian corridors in Gaza, echoes the sentiment of its member nations.

On the United Nations Security Council’s deliberations, Baloch communicated Pakistan’s disappointment with the outcomes. She emphasized the council’s responsibility to intervene promptly, addressing the bombardment in Gaza and the resultant humanitarian crisis faced by the Palestinian populace.

Highlighting Pakistan’s humanitarian contributions, Baloch announced the dispatch of a chartered aircraft from Islamabad to Egypt today, carrying a hundred tons of humanitarian supplies, including essential medicines, tents, and blankets, destined for the residents of Gaza.

Answering another query, she added that Pakistan recognizes and appreciates all initiatives targeted at achieving an immediate ceasefire and provisioning aid to Gaza’s residents. She hopes the proposals by Turkiye and other nations gain traction and lead to a desired unified resolution.

On a different note, regarding the ICC World Cup, the Spokesperson urged the host, India, to ensure a safe and conducive environment for all teams, including Pakistan. Moreover, she highlighted the International Cricket Council’s role in ensuring that India fulfills its hosting responsibilities.
