Pakistan Endorses Muscat Plan of Action as Innovative Pathway for Peace


New York: Pakistan has endorsed the Muscat Plan of Action as an innovative pathway to foster dialogue, address hate speech, and prevent incitement to genocide and other atrocity crimes, according to a statement from its Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad.



According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad made these remarks at the United Nations headquarters in New York. He emphasized that the plan leverages the cultural legitimacy and credibility of traditional and indigenous leaders to counter hate speech and promote peace through mediation and local peacebuilding. Pakistan, he reiterated, is committed to collaborating with international partners to dismantle ideologies of hate and transform societies into havens of peace, equality, and tranquility.



Ambassador Ahmad also extended congratulations to the Sultanate of Oman, the United Nations Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, and the Peacemakers Network for their efforts in compiling and finalizing the Muscat Plan of Action.
