Pakistan Emphasizes Gender Inclusivity in Climate Policy at Award Ceremony


Islamabad, Romina Khurshid Alam, the Prime Minister’s coordinator on climate change and environmental coordination, highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to integrating gender inclusivity in its national climate initiatives. During the Pakistan Gender Climate Award 2024, she affirmed the government’s dedication to prioritizing gender issues within climate action strategies.



According to Press Information Department, the award ceremony, held in collaboration with international partners including the Embassy of France, the French Development Agency, the European Union delegation to Pakistan, the UAE Embassy, and UNDP, recognized women’s significant contributions to climate action. Romina Khurshid Alam stressed the importance of addressing the unique challenges faced by women in this sector and acknowledged the support of foreign governments in fostering a sustainable future.



The event also paid tribute to Mr. Shabbir, a climate beat reporter who passed away while reporting on climate issues. Alam announced that her ministry is developing an award in his honor to continue raising awareness about climate change.
