Beijing: The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing has launched a landmark mentorship program at the 2nd Pakistan Professionals and Students Forum 2025. The initiative, themed “Mentorship: Learning from the Learned,” aims to connect industry professionals with Pakistani students in China, fostering dialogue on employment opportunities arising from the development of CPEC 2.0.
The event witnessed participation from professionals, students, academics, and entrepreneurs, all gathered to strengthen community bonds. Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, praised the initiative, emphasizing the role of the overseas Pakistani community in the nation’s sustainable development journey. He highlighted education as a pivotal force for transformation and urged the community to build partnerships and extend mentorship.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi, lauded the forum as a visionary initiative, advocating for industry-academia and intergenerational partnerships. He emphasized the importance of youth empowerment initiatives, such as the Digital Youth Hub and Innovation Fund, designed to promote digital skills and entrepreneurship. Fatemi also mentioned a scholarship program for Pakistani agricultural professionals, with 300 individuals set to receive training in China’s top universities.
Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, in his welcome address, described the forum as a reflection of the Pakistani community’s identity in China. He stressed the importance of intergenerational mentorship and the need for professionals to channel expertise into collective growth. The ambassador highlighted developments since the last forum, including the Yangling Agriculture Initiative and expanded bilateral cooperation in space science and vocational training.
Two panel discussions were held, focusing on employment prospects under CPEC 2.0 and the practical aspects of mentoring the younger generation. Panelists included experts from UNESCO, Renmin University, and other leading institutions. Attendees appreciated the embassy’s efforts and expressed a commitment to implementing the forum’s goals and objectives.
