Beijing, The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing held a commemorative event today marking the ‘Kashmir Black Day’, recognizing the 76th year since India assumed control over the State of Jammu and Kashmir without legal justification. Since the takeover on 27 October 1947, the people of Kashmir have been denied their right to self-determination, a right recognized by resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
According to a news release by the Press International Department, the event featured special messages from key Pakistani leaders including the President, the Prime Minister, and the Foreign Minister. Each message emphasized Pakistan’s ongoing political, moral, and diplomatic commitment to the Kashmir cause.
Mr. Qian Feng, a notable Chinese scholar specializing in South Asia, provided insights during the event. The Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy, Bilal Mahmood Choudhary, also spoke, expressing Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people, who have endured significant hardships under the Indian administration in Jammu and Kashmir for almost seven decades. Choudhary called on the global community to take a proactive stance towards a peaceful and enduring resolution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
In addition, the embassy displayed a photo exhibition to shed light on the circumstances in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
